Foster Youth Data Liaison, California Department of Education

Diana Casanova currently serves as the Foster Youth Data Liaison for the California Department of Education (CDE) where she is the lead data steward for foster youth data collection, reporting, research, and evaluation. In this role, she works closely with agency partners at the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to strengthen the data sharing relationship between CDSS and CDE and improve the foster youth match process. Diana also supports the Foster Youth Services Coordinating program by building the capacity of program coordinators within County Offices of Education to use foster data to inform local-level practices and decision-making. Prior to joining the CDE, Diana worked in non-profit fundraising; her background also includes roles as a paraeducator and photographer. Diana earned a Ph.D. and Masters of Arts in Education from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
