Where Federal Dollars Deliver

Funding Priorities from the Invest in What Works Coalition

Results for America highlights programs with strong track records of delivering measurable results.

Each year, the federal government invests more than $150 billion in grants to improve economic outcomes nationwide. Yet less than one-quarter of that funding supports programs proven to work. This gap persists despite overwhelming public support: 89% of voters—across both parties—favor evidence-based policymaking, and 94% believe decisions should be guided by what works, according to a 2026 national survey by Echelon Insights.

The Invest in What Works Coalition—a network of more than 60 organizations focused on improving outcomes for children, workers and families—is working to close that gap. The Coalition urges lawmakers to prioritize results by funding programs with demonstrated impact, strengthening standards of evidence, investing in data infrastructure, and creating pathways for innovation.

Its congressional appropriations priorities reflect a coordinated, forward-looking strategy to ensure federal dollars deliver measurable results—enhancing accountability to taxpayers and improving outcomes for communities nationwide.
