WASHINGTON – Results for America (RFA) CEO and Co-founder Michele Jolin issued the following statement today in support of the evidence-based policy provisions in H.R. 2353, the bipartisan “Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act,” which was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives by unanimous voice vote today:
“Results for America commends the U.S. House of Representatives for taking bipartisan action to use data and evidence to improve the career and technical education (CTE) of our nation’s students. We applaud the inclusion of an evidence-based innovation fund and Pay for Success provisions in the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. We are also encouraged that the bill would require an evaluation of the evidence base of CTE programs. These provisions will help states and local school districts better use data and evidence to improve student outcomes and better align workforce education with labor market needs. Bipartisan action like this highlights the growing momentum for taking a Moneyball approach to governing.”
H.R. 2353 would authorize a new Innovation Grant Program to help states, local school districts, and their partners create, develop, implement, or take to scale evidence-based and innovative strategies to improve student outcomes in career and technical education. The legislation would also allow Innovation Grant recipients to use their awarded funds to invest in Pay for Success initiatives. RFA worked with members of the Invest in What Works coalition to support these provisions.
