George co-founded Third Sector Capital Partners in 2011, where he focused on assembling and leading the highly talented, passionate and diverse team that will be needed to make our performance-driven social sector a reality.
Previously, George was a member of Capital One’s founding management team, where he headed up strategy and oversaw the launch of 20 new businesses. In 1999, he formed North Hill Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital firm, with $125 million under management, focused on early-stage financial and marketing technology firms.
In 2003, he transitioned full-time to a social sector focus, eventually founding NFF Capital Partners, a division housed within Nonprofit Finance Fund that helped 16 high-performing nonprofits secure over $300 million of philanthropic growth capital. The NFF Capital Partners portfolio went on to grow its programmatic output five-fold, while also markedly improving metrics of financial sustainability.
George is a frequent speaker and writer on the topic of innovation in nonprofit sector finance, having been covered in The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Business Week and New York Times. He graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Physics and earned an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
