Title I Director and Federal Liaison, Nevada Department of Education

Gabrielle “Gabby” Lamarre is the Title I Director and Federal Liaison at the Nevada Department of Education. In her role, she oversees the Title I program, other programs that support our most marginalized students (such as youth experiencing homelessness and in foster care) and targeted interventions for the state’s lowest-performing schools. Gabby grew up poor in Cambridge, MA where she was raised by a single mother who immigrated to the U.S from Jamaica. Gabby started her career as an elementary school teacher and has worked in education law, policy and advocacy in various settings. She believes in the power of education to transform lives and is determined to be an education advocate for our most underserved student groups, as her mother was for her. Gabby is a graduate of Spelman College, Northeastern University School of Law, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
