Dan Poniachik

Senior Manager, Certification, What Works Cities


Dan is the Senior Manager, Certification, for What Works Cities (Latin America). Previously, he was the program manager at unit, delivering the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge in Latin America, and worked at ideas42’s Latin America portfolio, where he advanced financial inclusion and local government effectiveness across the region. He has also worked as an M&E, social impact, behavioral economics and co-design consultant for international development initiatives in urban development, public innovation, youth empowerment and environmental protection across the region.

Dan has served in the secretariat of Chile’s government innovation for development advisory council and has been a researcher at a public policy think-tank devoted to improving economic mobility and social cohesion in Latin America. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Chile and a Master’s in Public Administration from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
