RFA-Supported Amendment Would Improve Student Outcomes and Make Government Programs More Efficient and Effective

WASHINGTON – Results for America CEO and Co-Founder Michele Jolin issued the following statement today after Congressional lawmakers adopted a bipartisan amendment authorizing the use of pay for success financing for teacher and principal training programs. The amendment to H.R.5, legislation that would reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA,) passed by voice vote.

“Results for America was proud to partner with bipartisan legislators to develop and support the pay for success amendment to the ESEA reauthorization legislation being considered in the U.S. House of Representatives. This amendment helps ensure that our nation’s major federal elementary and secondary education law is driven by data, evidence, and evaluation to help improve student outcomes,” said Michele Jolin, CEO and CO-Founder of Results for America. “We commend Reps. John Delaney (D-MD), Todd Young (R-IN), and Jared Polis (D-CO) for their continued commitment to evidence-based policy-making and thank them for their great work to bring this important legislation forward.Since ESEA Title II is funded at $2.35 billion in FY15, this amendment could represent the biggest federal investment in pay for success to date if enacted – a huge step forward in government prioritizing what works.”

The bipartisan amendment, which was sponsored by U.S. Representatives and Moneyball All-Stars John Delaney (D-MD), Todd Young (R-IN) and U.S. Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO), would allow states and local school districts to invest their ESEA Title II funds in Pay for Success teacher and principal training programs making ESEA more evidence-driven. Results for America helped develop and promote the amendment which will improve education outcomes for our nation’s children and make our government more efficient and effective.
