Results For America Statement On Passage Of Bipartisan Career And Technical Education Act By U.S. House Education & The Workforce Committee

WASHINGTON – Results for America (RFA) CEO and Co-founder Michele Jolin issued the following statement today in support of the evidence-based policy provisions in H.R. 5587, the bipartisan “Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act,” which was reported out of the U.S. House Education & the Workforce Committee earlier today:

“Results for America applauds the inclusion of an evidence-based innovation fund and Pay for Success provisions in the “Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act.” These policies will help states and local school districts better use data and evidence to improve the career and technical education of our nation’s students and help to align workforce skills with labor market needs.”

H.R. 5587 would authorize a new Innovation Grant Program to help states, local school districts, and their partners create, develop, implement, or take to scale evidence-based, field-initiated innovations to improve student outcomes in career and technical education. The legislation would also allow Innovation Grant recipients to use their awarded funds to invest in Pay for Success initiatives. RFA worked with members of the Invest in What Works coalition in support of these provisions.

About Results for America
Results for America is improving outcomes for young people, their families and communities by shifting public resources toward practices, policies, and programs that use evidence and data to improve quality and get better results. In a climate of constrained resources and mounting demands, we know that public funds must increasingly be invested in “what works.” In November, 2014, Results for America published Moneyball for Government, the national bestselling book that brings together a group of bipartisan leaders and makes the case for government at all levels to inform public policy and funding decisions by using the best possible data, evidence and evaluation about what works. In January, 2016, RFA published the second edition of Moneyball for Government featuring a new bipartisan chapter about the importance of using data and evidence to drive U.S. foreign assistance.
