The Results for America State and Local Workforce Fellows Arrive in DC

Local/State/ Workforce Fellows/ 2020/

On March 5-6, 2020, Results for America’s State and Local Workforce Fellows convened for the second time in Washington, DC. Fellows shared and discussed progress each state team has made toward accelerating the use of data and evidence to drive improved workforce outcomes in their states.

During the convening, Fellows were joined by key Congressional staff to discuss the upcoming reauthorization of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The U.S. Department of Labor hosted a roundtable discussion on how federal, state and local governments can collaborate to share data and build evidence. Fellows further explored topics such as the intersection of evidence and equity and results-driven contracting strategies. Finally, Fellows gathered in their state teams to explore key recommendations for driving state and local government workforce funding toward evidence-based strategies outlined in RFA’s “7 Ways to Improve Workforce Outcomes Using Evidence: 2019 Policy Roadmap for State & Local Officials.”

Featured speakers and partners included:

  • Jake Baker, Professional Staff, Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (Chair, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN))
