Ross Schwartz is Associate Director of Communications for What Works Cities at Results for America. Through ten plus years of working across consumer and public-interest industries, he is well-versed in brand development, media and influencer relations, cross-platform multi-media marketing tools and strategies, and strategic partnerships.
Previously, as Director of Communications for Hetrick-Martin Institute, the nation’s “oldest and largest organization for LGBTQ youth,” he oversaw and executed all internal and external communications functions and strategies, originating the “Pride Is…” and “Help Me Imagine…” campaigns, developing organizational principles and practices, leading event related press and promotion, and developing strategic community, corporate, celebrity, influencer and media partnerships. Entrepreneurially minded and philanthropically focused, his boutique PR firm, Openly Unconventional, led local, regional, and (sometimes) national PR and marketing for myriad lifestyle brands and non-profits such as Live Out Loud, The Human Rights Campaign, At Last Naturals, Love & Pride, and more.
Ross grew up in the heart of NY politics, the state capitol, Albany. Always focused on becoming a truly global citizen, after earning his undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Anthropology from Boston University, he taught English in Pusan, South Korea and Buenos Aires, Argentina, before taking root in uptown Manhattan since early 2009.
